Fern Field has been in the entertainment industry for over 45 years. She began her career at Norman Lear’s Tandem Productions, working as assistant to the Executive Producer of the sit-com MAUDE. Most recently she produced USA’s hit television series MONK, which ended an 8 season run last year, and she was Consulting Producer on the indie feature film “SHAKESPEARE’S CAT”.

In 2007, she created and produced a competition/game show designed to promote and encourage the correct use of English for CSUSB Palm Desert Campus with high school students competing for college scholarships. A second Special was produced in 2008 and both shows aired on KCET Desert Cities.

Her other credits include children’s programs, sit-coms, dramatic and action-adventure series, movies-of-the-week, and mini-series featuring such stars as James Garner, Mary Tyler Moore, Christopher Plummer, Sam Neil, and many others.

She has been honored with a prime-time EMMY, two GEORGE FOSTER PEABODY Awards, two HUMANITAS awards, the NAACP Image Award, and an OSCAR nomination for a comedy-musical featurette designed to encourage the employment of persons with disabilities. The film changed the entertainment industry’s perception of persons with disabilities and Field received the DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD for her work with the disabled from President Ronald Reagan.

Ms. Field is also an author. Her first book, “Letters To My Husband …” has been published in hard cover in the United States, Canada and Japan and she is now completing three more books – “Producers Don’t Cry” based on her professional experiences, and an auto-biography entitled “My Accidental Life” and “They Call Me Destiny” – a book she says her cat wrote in Italian and which she translated.
